The next time someone tries to sell you a coupon book or a coupon card that has discounts for all the places you regularly go, buy it and save yourself some money for you cash reserve. Coupons can be a great way to get entertainment at a discount. You can get coupons from coupon books or cards, online, and in the newspaper. Coupons can give you discounts on eating out, activities like miniature golf, or on things you buy for your entertainment like books.
Coupon books and cards have discounts at some of the most popular retailers and entertainment. Buy-one-get-one-free coupons, a certain percentage off coupons, and buy one of something and get something else free or half-off coupons can all save you money for you cash reserve. If your family likes to go out to eat at T.G.I. Friday's, for example, with a Starving Student Coupon Card, you can get $5 off any purchase over $25 which you can put directly into your cash reserve. With the same card you can get 20% off any purchase of a used game at Game Crazy, free movie rentals at Hollywood Video, unlimited $1 off ice cream at Dairy Queen, and much more. If you use every coupon on the card before it expires, you could save yourself over $1,000 that you can put directly into your cash reserve.
If you want to go somewhere specific for you entertainment, like Disneyland, look online for coupon discounts. Disneyland.com always has some sort of discount coupon available, for example, they have a "Kids Fly Free to Disneyland" coupon that gives you a free child's airfare for every adult when you book a vacation package with the Disneyland Resort. If you are coming from the Midwest, one airline ticket is around $200. For a family of four, you could save $400 on your Disneyland trip that can go directly into your cash reserve by using the Kids Fly Free coupon, plus save on your actual resort costs, cost of food and purchases while you're there, and on other Disney owned resorts all from coupons on the Disneyland.com website. Online coupons don't just save money on big ticket entertainment though, you can get buy-one-get-one-free Fandango movie tickets, 30% off select books at Barnes and Noble coupons, and a discount on coupon books, which saves you even more money. You can also subscribe to coupon websites that will send coupons to you via email for your favorite entertainment. Each coupon you get online can save you at least $1, and if you use just one coupon a day, that's at least $365 a year you can put into your cash reserve.
The Sunday (or any day) paper is chuck-full of ads and coupons that can save you money on entertainment. For example, every few months Best Buy runs a coupon for 10% off Blu-ray DVDs. Blu-ray DVD's range in price from $35 - $75 depending on the movie, but if you get it at Best Buy with their coupon from the paper, you can save at least $3.50 per movie.
