How to properly use visual aids when presenting information. It can be difficult to know the best way to present information.
Sometimes you see that perfect picture in a PowerPoint slideshow that you just have to have as a screen saver or for a collage you're doing. But the problem is: how do you nab it from that slideshow so you can format it and use it however you want. Well, provided you have access to the PPS (PowerPoint Show) file or PPT (PowerPoinT) file, and the picture can legally be nabbed, it's a very easy process. The best way to accomplish it depends on whether you have access to the PPT file or just the PPS file.
IF YOU DO HAVE THE PPT FILE
1. The first thing you need to do after you open it is find the slide that contains the picture you want to copy. The format of a PPT is such that thumbnail versions of all the slides should be visible in chronological order on the left-hand side of the screen. The thumbnail for the first one should be at the top, the thumbnail for the second immediately below it, and so on.
2. If you click on a thumbnail, its corresponding slide will show up on the main screen, to the right of the thumbnails.
3. Now this is the editing format that the creator of the presentation used to add everything, so you should be able to manipulate everything on that slide. And if you click on the picture you want, a border should appear around it, showing you what you are manipulating.
4. Right-click on the picture and choose the option "Copy" from the drop-down list.
5. Now all you have to do is open an image-editing program. Paint should automatically come with your computer, and it will work perfectly. Paste the picture in the program (one way to do this is to right-click again when you are in the program and select "Paste" from the drop-down list).
6. From there, you can edit the picture however you want to and save it or print it.
IF YOU JUST HAVE THE PPS FILE.
1. The PPS will open directly to the slideshow presentation, skipping the editing screen and not letting you access it at all. But that's ok, you can still get that picture.
2. You will need to go through each slide until you find the one that contains your desired picture. Once you've found it, all you have to do is find the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard. It is actually labeled "PrintScrnSysRq." It will probably be on the top row of buttons on your keyboard. Pressing that button will put the whole slide screen in your computer's Clipboard, so that you can paste it into Paint or another image-editing program in the same way described in the above instructions.
3. The drawback of this, of course, is that if the slide has anything besides that picture on it, you have to drag it along with the picture when you paste it. Not to worry though, once you've got the image in Paint, you can crop the image so that the picture is isolated.
