Best anti-virus and spyware protection available for business computers. Emails can cause virus to get onto your computer.
If you are using Microsoft Outlook express, there may be times when your account sends out automatic emails. Sometimes this happens with other accounts like Yahoo or MSN. What is going on with those automatic emails? One thing that may have happened is that someone hacked into your account and they are sending out emails using your account. You will notice this because you should get a few return emails that say something like "unknown address" or "symantec mail error". So what can you do about this problem?
Here are a few suggestions:
- Make sure your email security settings are set to `high'. This will stop some messages from being received, but it should detect spyware that may be automatically generating email messages.
- Use an anti-virus program that will protect against spyware. Almost all automatic email messages are sent out from a malware virus that has been installed on your system. A good anti-virus program will not only detect malware and spyware, it should prevent any future attacks.
- Check your msconfig to look for any virus on the system and to make sure everything is set to the correct settings. If you changed some of the computer settings, it could be causing the email program to generate automatic messages, which is why you are dealing with a number of email problems.
- What does the email do when you create one? Does the email ask you if you would like to send the message or does it just for you? The error may lie in your actual email account. You may want to try closing your account or uninstalling it from your computer. This can get rid of anything that is on your email and generating automatic messages.
- Take a look at your contact list and look for unknown addresses. There are some addresses out there that will generate automatic messages from your account and they do this by placing a phony account on your contact list. Delete out any of the contacts that you are familiar with.
Email is a big security concern for everyone and you need to take certain precautions to make sure your system is as safe as it can possibly be. Go back to some of the basic rules that come with email and internet protection. First, change your email password often and make it difficult to hack into. Don't use your name in the password. Try to mix up the password with letters, symbols, and numbers. This makes it hard for hackers to configure with their virus programs and it can keep your email account free of hackers. Change it every other month to prevent hackers from gaining access to your email account and generating automatic messages in your name.
Make sure you are not only using your anti-virus software, but that you are using all the different aspect of it like your SPAM filter. Your SPAM filter will help to protect your personal information and your email account as it will automatically reject any of the messages that are sent by questionable addresses or emails that come with unrecognized attachments.
Not only do you need to promptly delete emails that come from SPAM accounts, you should never replay to a possible SPAM email. Do not reply to subscription emails and try to get yourself off their mailing list. Mailing lists are one of the worst things out there as a number of viruses are transmitted through them.
When you are done using your email account, always make sure you log out of it. Sadly some of the email SPAM messages that are being sent are being sent from your co-workers or people you work closely with. Do not allow anyone to access your account and logging out of your account when you aren't using it is one of the easiest ways to protect yourself.
