One of the problem areas in homes is the spaces under stuff. You have a lot of places where dirt, debris, allergens, etc. can hide. Even if you mop, dust, pick up, etc. frequently, your home is not actually clean unless your spaces under furniture are clean and sanitary. So, once every couple of weeks, take the time to clean under stuff. This is going to hold true for your fridge, washer, dryer, beds, couch, etc. There are plenty of places to clean up under. So, choose one a week, and rotate through to ensure you always have clean under surfaces.

Consider the following places:

1. Entertainment centers: Usually the entertainment center is an attractor of dust. However, sometimes there will be debris as well, especially if you have small children. Bits of cereal or other snacks, toys, etc. can get under there. So, use a vacuum attachment to get under there and do a quick clean once a week or so.

2. Electronics: Electronics are big dust magnets, but not just on top, often you will find dust build up under them. So, once a week, grab your microfiber cloth, and have someone help you by lifting or moving the electronic as you dust under and around it.

3. Couches: Couches are the biggest culprit for hiding mess. Change falls under the cushions, but so does food, dirt, etc. That is just in the couch, let alone under it. So push the couch out of its place every now and then and vacuum and dust under it. Then, remove the cushions, and using a vacuum attachment, suction out any debris that has fallen into the cracks, etc.

4. Beds: Under the bed you will find dust, shoes, and other items. Clean it out regularly so that you do not get dust mites on your pillow cushions, etc.

5. Appliances: These are the worst culprits. Sometimes things will spill in the fridge and leak under it. Sometimes washing machines leak, attracting more dust. Sometimes liquid laundry detergent drips. The fact is that under the stove, fridge, washer, and dryer you may find all kinds of gross stuff. So take the time to mop under them, dust, and vacuum regularly.

Dusting is a critical component to cleaning under stuff. Most of the places mentioned above are classic locations for finding dust, or dust build up. Dust is a huge allergen, and collects under beds, couches, washing machines, etc. So, every few weeks take the time to move the furniture and dust under it. Use a vacuum with a long reaching arm for those harder to reach places. Use microfiber cloths so that the dust you find does not just end up in the air to be deposited somewhere else.

If done properly, it should take you no more than 20 minutes a week to clean under your furniture and never have to worry what you will find, or your friends will find if they push something back, move something, etc.
